Paul Giamatti's (Giamatti) soul is getting in the way of his performance of Uncle Vanya, but what can you do about your soul? A newspaper article in leads him to a 'Soul Storage' lab run by Dr Flintstein (Straithairn), where he has created a way to remove your soul and replace it with another. So he decides to get the soul of a Russian poet, which helps his acting but has a negative effect on his marriage to Claire (Watson). The only thing Paul can do is to go and retrieve his soul. To do this he needs Nina's (Korzun) help , a 'soul mule' in a Russian mob-run transport racket, together they travel to St. Petersburg in search of his soul.
Part meta-physical thriller and part comedy, Cold Souls is the debut film from French director Sophie Barthes and with a cast of superb actors this is sure to be one of the finds of the year.

STEEL HOMES
UK 2009/ 10 mins
Director: Eve Weber
A poetic portrait of life at a self storage warehouse, 'Steel Homes' explores the fragmented nature of memories, set in the starkly beautiful aesthetic of our modern industrial world. Self storage units are windows into human histories: the silent cells with their discarded objects and dust-covered furniture are inscribed with past dreams, secret hopes and lives we cannot let go off.
